November will be a big month for me. A good friend of mine and I are both participating in National Novel Writing Month, a project about which I am very excited. Basically, it a contest where writers compete against themselves to complete a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. There are no points, no winners or losers, no prizes or places. It is merely an initiative to get writers to come up with content. Grammar or plot movement or editing are all secondary issues to just writing to write. This will be good for me because I edit compulsively while I am writing. Hopefully by December I’ll have 50,000+ words to expand and edit into something I could try to market early into 2009. So, I’ll probably be keeping updates on my progress posted here, which will be good for all you readers who are frustrated by my “one post every few months” approach to blogging. Aplogies. Now, moving forward.
Tomorrow is also the beginning of No-Shave November. Nation-wide (maybe worldwide?), guys will shave their faces clean and not touch a razor again until December. Not only is it something fun to do with your buddies, but it’s also for a good cause. Participants can pledge money to the cause, which changes from year to year. This year’s cause is one which I’ve supported on Facebook for a long time and it’s good to see it get some more attention. This year’s No-Shave November cause is Save Darfur. Feel free to follow the link and learn more information if you are so inclined.
So, all in all, I’m very excited about November. Hopefully I’ll be blogging regularly for novel/beard updates, among other things. I apologize for my sparse posts thus far, but I’m planning on making it up to you. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
Also, Happy Halloween — Ian
