A Blog at War

Updates, Apologies, and Probable Empty Promises

My last post was in May. This makes me sad. Hopefully you are too. But fate has dealt us both a sweet hand this day because I’m back in the blogosphere, despite my lack of neighborly wi-fi to steal. Jerks.

I really have been writing, I just haven’t been publishing any of it. Mostly because it’s vacant ramblings of a disgruntled mind. Also, it’s really really bad.

But I’ll start stockpiling tidbits for both of you who still read this thing so you can laugh at it together and maybe fall in love. I’m really pulling for you two. Also, over at the Everland Media blog, we’re gearing up for some exciting new things slated to roll out around the beginning of the year. So get stoked about that.

Soon is when we’ll meet again.

Summer Reading List

I’ve recently felt convicted of my neglegence regarding my blog and its dwindling readers. Apologies, all.

That said, I decided to tackle a post promised to you in my most recent Clearing of the Air. My good friend Jenny and I decided to make a summer reading list, because neither of us had made one is several years. To further expand both our range in read literature and the boundaries of our friendship, we made two lists: one for ourselves, one for each other. Each list held five selections specifically selected for its intended listee. My lists are as follows:

For me, from Jenny:

  1. Watership Down – Richard Adams (currently reading)
  2. The Secret Life of Bees – Sue Monk Kidd
  3. The Year of Pleasures – Elizabeth Berg
  4. Godhanger – Dick King-Smith
  5. The Cay (and, Timothy of the Cay) – Theodore Taylor

Mine, for myself:

  1. Motorcycle Diaries – Ernesto Che Guevera
  2. The Bell Jar – Sylvia Plath
  3. A Wrinkle in Time – Madeline L’Engle
  4. On the Road – Jack Kerouac
  5. Slaughterhouse Five – Kurt Vonnegut

Neither of us are expected to read all ten, but at least a total of five from the combined ten. We’re both excited. And you should be too. If you can think of any better choices or care to share your list, feel free to do so in the comments. I am always open to new suggestions for reading material.

The Everland

For a little over a year now, my good friend Matt Gallion and I have been talking about a project we’re calling The Everland. It’s still a baby, as far as the developments of ideas can be classified, but now that it’s out of our head and finally grasping at little bits of what can be very accurately described as tangibility, we’re feeling the rush and excitement of the newness of hope come flooding back again. I am proud to introduce to all of you, the Everland Media Group. It’s only one facet of what The Everland will one day be (we think), but it’s at least a start. Go ahead and pop on over there and let us know what you think.

Critque. Contribute. Commune with us.
